Arsenal transfer sights on Bender

The Daily Star cite German sources when claiming that Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is eager to bring the player to the Emirates Stadium, and is ready to table an improved offer of £25million for the player.

The paper claims that's an improved offer of £6.5million, after their original £18.5million bid was rejected.

And, bookmakers Sky Bet believe the north London outfit are in pole position to land the player, with Arsenal now 6/1 favourites to bring the player to the Premier League.

Bender would be the fourth high-profile German at the club if the Gunners were to land the player, with Mesut Ozil joining Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski at the end of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old continues to earn rave reviews in the Bundesliga, having moved to Bayer Leverkusen from 1860 Munich back in 2009. He earned his first international cap two-years later.

But, his time in his homeland could come to an end in the New Year, if Wenger gets his way, as Arsenal look to strengthen their side further ahead of a crack at the top of the English top flight
