See the Actor Who Will Play Jesus for NBC

This Messiah should have no problem attracting followers.

Meet Juan Pablo di Pace, the latest in a long line of actors who have played Jesus Christ for the big and small screen.

The easy-on-the-eyes actor from Argentina – who last appeared on NBC's Camp and TNT's Dallas – will play the King of Kings in NBC's sequel to The Bible, titled A.D.

Scheduled to premiere on Easter Sunday 2015, the miniseries will pick up from where The Bible left off after the crucifixion.

The new miniseries will focus on the fallout and the impact the crucifixion had on Jesus's mother, Mary, his disciples and key political and religious leaders.

NBC will air 12 episodes of the series from executive producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, who also shepherded The Bible for the History Channel.

Di Pace is not the first actor with matinee-idol looks to assume the challenging role of Christ. Diogo Morgado was a relative unknown when he was cast in The Bible.

He followed in the footsteps of actors like Jim Cavaziel (Passion of the Christ); Christian Bale (Mary Mother of Jesus), Jeremy Sisto (Jesus) – and, lest it be forgotten – Will Ferrell, in Superstar.
