Tottenham Hotspur forward Gareth Bale has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid as he now looks close to finally putting an end to the summer long saga.
However, the Spanish giants are still in talks with Spurs over the fee for the 24-year-old with an £86 million bid already tabled, which would eclipse the £80 million fee they paid for Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2009.
“While talks in Madrid took some days, this was always a formality,” says BBC chief sports correspondent Dan Roan.“The agreement over personal terms has no bearing on the timing of the actual transfer being announced.“The conclusion of talks over personal terms is separate from negotiations between Real Madrid and Spurs regarding the amount and structuring of a transfer fee.“All that remains now is for Spurs to formally accept Real Madrid’s offer and to agree on simultaneous announcements.”
On Wednesday Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas said that a deal taking him to Spain could happen “very, very soon,”Spurs have been very active during this transfer window, having already splashed out £90 million on the likes of Erik Lamela, Vlad Chiriches, Etienne Capoue, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and striker Roberto Soldado.
